12/18/18 - NFL Week 15 - Week 15 In Review

Going into week 15 we knew it could be an ugly week with only one game with an over/under of 50 or more.  So that told us to load up on Steelers Patriots because what could go wrong right? Well, everything.  A 27 game total led to all the playmakers in this game coming up small. This also led to a main slate that quite possibly could be the lowest scoring of the season.

If you went with Joe Mixon, Dalvin Cook, and Jaylen Samuels you could have had a great day.  I emphasize could have because the receivers that you needed (Foster, Golladay vs. Buffalo, Adams vs. Chicago) we're largely unpopular.  We also saw Derrick Henry act like he was back in Alabama running people over and scoring TDs.

Let's take a brief look at some of our analysis before we put Week 15 in the past.

  •  The Thursday night showdown slate you  did great if you played all the Williams and faded Keenan Allen (we did not fade Allen).
  • The Saturday preview was about the only thing that went our way in week 15, and until that Baker TD pass to Callaway the Keenum, Patrick, McManus, Chubb plays we're looking like a winning showdown lineup.
  • Amari Cooper was in fact pooper sCooper with a very underwhelming performance along with the whole Cowboys team.
  • Our "Dart Throws" weren't bullseyes, they were actually that dart you throw that hits the board then ricochets off and hits your drunk buddy right in the big toe.
  • The "QB on the cheap", Nick Mullens actually looked pretty good in real life but only put up 14 points in Fantasy.
  • For our plays of the week, our running back picks turned out great even though Barkley and Elliot underwhelmed.  The Jags D and 49ers D actually came through as well. Other than that it was a wild week for pass catchers and needless to say that wasn't our strength this past week.
  • This week we went 9-11 on our prop bets putting our total at 19-21. We're sitting right where Vegas wants us to be so hopefully next week we can get past the house and get up to a 55% winning percentage.
  • Finally the Sunday and Monday primetime games were possibly the worst primetime games I've watched, especially the Monday night snoozer. Neither of our TE on Sunday night or WR/TE Monday night came through but that's why you play the game. Someone took a risk on no name TE Manhertz from Carolina and saw McCaffrey throw a 50 yd TD pass to him. That guy won 100k on Fanduel and didn't split with anyone. This is what we are talking about on these showdown slates and taking a risk on some low owned players.

On to Week 16 with two Saturday games and no Thursday game. We will talk about it later this week, but this is the time you start to look at players that have something to play for!
