Dallas Cowboys @ Los Angeles Rams (-7.5) 49 O/U
I feel like this game will go largely forgotten in fantasy. There's not a lot of star names besides Ezekiel Elliott and Todd Gurley, with Gurley being banged up. Also, with the emergence of C.J. Anderson, the Rams will look to lighten Gurley's load more than they did throughout the season. I would be surprised if Gurley sees the 25-30 touches that he was seeing earlier in the year. Speaking of earlier in the year, the Rams were looked at as the best team in the league and unbeatable starting 8-0. Since then they have went 5-3, had a bye in the first round, and do not necessarily have any momentum going into this game.
The Cowboys on the other hand have ALL of the momentum and Jerry Jones is already celebrating. How you ask? Oh no big deal, he just bought a $250 million dollar yacht after the Cowboys win over Seattle. Can you imagine what he'll buy next if the Cowboys advance? If they do advance, it will be on the back of Ezekiel Elliott as they try to pound the ball and continue the slow pace of play like they have all season and attempt to control the time of possession. I'm not a Dak believer (sorry Cowboys fans), so if the Cowboys get behind early I don't see the Cowboys being able to mount a comeback via the passing game.
Average Joe 4 games slate analysis
Like I said above, I feel like this game will go overlooked except Ezekiel Elliot. If you can fit in enough value pieces to squeeze in Elliott, by all means do it. I'm not going out of the way to include him, as I like the way the RBs on Sunday fit into your lineup better. I won't completely fade Elliott though as he is one of the few RBs with a guaranteed 25+ touches. If you are doing one lineup I wouldn't argue against fading him to be different, but the way I look at it is that there are so many studs on the slate that Elliott could be one of those that people don't prioritize. The only other piece on the Cowboys that interests me is Amari Cooper. The Cowboys will be playing catch up according to Vegas, so if it gets to the point where Dak has to throw, it will be to Cooper.
On the other side, I feel like the Rams are one of the hardest teams to dissect. The RB situation has suddenly become cloudy and unless word comes out that Gurley will get a full workload with Anderson not expected to be involved, I will completely fade the Rams RBs. The run defense of Dallas is solid as well which has me leaning towards fading them even more. If I'm not looking at the RBs I should be looking at the receivers, but honestly I'm not really interested. The receiving core has not been the same since Cooper Kupp went down, and frankly neither has Jared Goff. The only plus here is that we know the targets will go to Brandin Cooks and Robert Woods. I wouldn't be opposed to plugging either of the receivers in if they fit, but otherwise Elliot and Cooper are the only real pieces I will be focusing on from this game.
Stud plays (highly owned): Ezekiel Elliott, C.J. Anderson (if Gurley is out)
Under the radar (medium owned): Amari Cooper, Todd Gurley (depending on workload), Brandin Cooks, Robert Woods
Value (low owned): None
Dart throw (very low owned, high risk): Josh Reynolds, Michael Gallup
Average Joe single game slate analysis
Well I guess we can't fade both teams on a single game slate, so let's see how we can do this. I can't get away from Elliott in the captain's spot and I think you just plug him in and differentiate elsewhere. You could go with Cooper in the captain spot if you think Dallas will play from behind most of the game. So if we do go with Elliott in the captain spot he is $17100! I think you can pair up Zeke with Prescott and even throw in Cooper to have a stake in all of the Cowboys offense. You could even go down from Cooper to Michael Gallup, which I like even more. The means right now we have Elliott, Prescott, and Gallup.
The Rams piece I love is Brandin Cooks ($7800) because he offers immense upside and the ability to break a big play or two downfield. On DK, which is where our focus always is on the single game slates, I like plugging in a kicker as they are a big money saver. It gets no better than one of the best kickers in the league with Greg Zuerlein ($3600). That leaves us with a whopping $7500 for the last spot. If Gurley is ruled out, you absolutely have to plug in C.J. Anderson. If not, then I think Josh Reynolds is the play at $6200. That leaves $1300 on the table which is another way to differentiate by not spending all of the salary available.
