2/3/2019 - 2019 Superbowl Patriots vs Rams

Big Game Showdown Slate

We are back with a look at the biggest game of the year in the NFL. Fanduel and Draftkings are getting crazy and offering "in game showdowns" including second half only and fourth quarter only.  Luckily those aren't in my state because as random as they are, I'm sure I would be playing them.  We will look at how we are building our lineup on both FD and DK, then end with a few of our favorite prop bets. Let's get into it.

Everyone is loving the Patriots for this game and for good reason, but this is a different Patriots team. Now that doesn't mean I don't think they come out and disappoint all those Pats fans. They just have a different identity as a run first team which I think will carry over into this game.

On the Rams side, who knows what to expect. They have been a different team as well since the loss of Cooper Kupp but have been finding ways to win.  The last few weeks their success has been due to the reemergence of C.J. Anderson.  I'm still not buying it. If you want to go out there and try to win a Championship with a washed up RB while the best RB in the league sits on the bench, good luck. I'm loading up on Gurley.

Fanduel Build

I'm starting with Sony Michel as my MVP as I think the Patriots want to ground and pound all game.  From there I don't like James White as much on FD but the love he gets in the red zone has me plugging him in. I'll run that back on the Rams side with Gurley and Robert Woods.  That leaves you with $8500 and I would be comfortable rolling with any of Dorsett, Reynolds, or Hogan. I even could see leaving money on the table to differentiate and taking a flyer on Gerald Everett or Cordarelle Patterson.

Draftkings Build

The two main differences on DK are the increased price for the Captain's spot and PPR scoring.  I think putting White in the Captain's spot on DK is the play for those PPR points, then starting with Michel in the flex.  I'm still all in on Gurley especially at a lower price than usual ($9000).  After that you are left with a lot of choices. I will take my chances that Bill Belichick shuts down Cooks and Woods, leaving some opportunities for Gerald Everett. Everett is also only $2000. If you followed this build so far, that leaves you with two spots to plug in whoever you want. Edelman/Brady or Brady/Goff would be my favorite plays. Don't be afraid to leave money on the table which will really differentiate you from the field.
