12/9/2018 - NFL Week 14 - Picks of the Week

NFL Week 14 - Picks of the Week

QB (DK/FD)
Ben Roethlisberger (6800/8600): he's facing a bad secondary where Mahomes put up 33 points last week throwing for 4 td and 295 yards
Philip Rivers (6500/8300): The Bengals have let up 26 tds and 3470 passing yards to opposing qbs this year putting them in the back of the pack in defense.
Jameis Winston (6200/7700): This is a game where Winston will be trailing so he will be forced to throw the ball down field to keep up with Brees and the saints. With Tampa Bay not having much of a run game I love Jameis to put up solid numbers this week.
Carson Wentz (5400/7300): see "QB on the cheap"

RB (DK/FD)
Christian McCaffrey (9300/9100): lots of options here but my favorite is Cmac. Although he’s expensive he contains 40% of panthers touches on the year and Cleveland is allowing 179.8 scrimmage yards to RBs since week 8. WOW, plug him in.
Ezekiel Elliot (8600/8800) and Saquon Barkley (8900/8900): Both of these guys are getting a ton of touches every week and flat out getting it done in fantasy points.
Jaylen Samuels (3700/4600): He will be taking over Conner's role with him being out hurt. He is dirt cheap and Oakland is letting up the most rushing yards this year.  He could assume a big role in the offense and have good value due to his salary.
Jeff Wilson Jr (3800/5600): With Matt Breida out, he will get a lot of work and could easily see 18 touches this week. He will be chalk but plug him in and differentiate elsewhere.
Phillip Lindsay (6300/7900): He has the 7th easiest schedule remaining for rbs and let’s be honest Superman has been getting it done. The Broncos don’t have much more then him with Sanders going down so look for Lindsay to carry the load. With the popular build being pay down at two spots and up at one for RB this week, Lindsay could be lower owned.

WR (DK/FD)
JuJu Smith-Schuster (8200/7500): JuJu is becoming Ben's go-to receiver, leading his team in yards with 1140. He is line for a lot of work this week while Ben should scorch the Raiders D and the Steelers should turn to the pass more with Conner being out.
Adam Humphries (4900/6500):  He’s coming in with a td in the last 3 games. He also gets the best matchup with PJ Williams in the slot. Look out for the weather too. It's supposed to be windy so if that's the case look for Humphries to get a lot of action on the underneath routes.
Keenan Allen (7400/7900): Allen is averaging 9 catches in the last 4 weeks and had 19 targets last week. Look for more of the same volume this week with Gordon out again and Cincinnati sporting one of the worst defenses in the league.
Amari Cooper (6600/6900): Other then Zeke he gets most of the offensive targets. The passing game is where you attack the Eagles so look for Cooper to have a solid game here. Lower ownership than the top dogs could win you a GPP.

TE (DK/FD)
Rob Gronkowski (4800/6200): Remember when Gronkowski's price was over 8000, and you STILL couldn't fade him? Sure he's probably not 100% healthy and New England has been relying more on the run but Gronk hasn't had that "Gronk game". Josh Gordon will draw Xavien Howard in coverage and if Gronk matches up against the Miami LB Brady will pepper him all day.
David Njoku (3900/5300): Baker Mayfield has been throwing the ball like crazy and I expect him to do more of the same against Carolina. The Panthers have been susceptible to the TE position and Njoku is one of Cleveland's best weapons in the red zone.
Jared Cook (5200/6300): Raiders will have to pass, pass, and pass some more. Cook could really get 10-15 targets this game, especially if the Steelers attack via the downfield passing game.

DEF (DK/FD)
Houston Texans (2600/4300): They have put up the most fantasy points for a defense since week 10 with getting pressure to the QB and turnovers. They have 5 int and 11 sacks over that period. Facing the Colts that put up a stinker last week, I don't expect this to be a bounce back spot for Luck and company but instead a feast for Watt and company.

  1. A more in depth look at how the picks performed:

Ben Roethlisberger 19.28 dk points throwing for 282 yards passing and 2 tds while missing a whole quarter (win)

Philip Rivers 13.50 dk points passing for 220 yards and 1 td (loss)

Jameis Winston 20.22 dk points passing for 213 yards 2 tds and 47 rushing yards (win)

Carson Wentz 19.82 dk points passing 228 yards and 3 tds started off slow but came through in the end (win)

    Rbs

Christian McCaffrey 28.10 dk points had 6 catches for 38 yards and 63 rushing yards with 2 tds (win)

Ezekiel Elliot 34.20 dk points 12 catches for 79 yards and 113 rushing yards (win)

Saquon Barkley 32.70 dk points 4 catches for 27 yards and 170 rushing yards with 1 td (win)

Jaylen Samuels 16.20 dk points as the former tight end in college had 7 catches for 64 yards and only 28 rushing yards (win) for price point

Jeff Wilson jr 10.60 dk points 1 catch for 6 yards and 90 rushing yards. Think if he got into the end zone or broke 100 yards it would have been a win I’ll call it a (loss)

Philip Lindsay 15.10 dk points 4 catches for 21 yards and 30 rushing yards with 1 td. Right around Jaylen Samuels point range I would call this a loss for his salary (loss)

    WRs

Juju smith schuster 36.00 dk points 8 catches for 130 yards 2 tds (win)

Keenan Allen 18.80 dk points 5 catches for 78 yards and a td boarder line win/loss (win)

Amari cooper 52.70 dk points at a great price point and low ownership this is the call of the week at 10 catches for 217 yards and 3 tds (win)

    TEs

Rob Gronkowski 27.70 dk points 8 catches for 107 yards and a td (win) other then making the tackle on the last play of the game (win)

David Njoku 6.50 dk points 3 catches for 35 yards..this was truly a Jarvis Landry game (loss)

Jared Cook 21.60 dk points 7 catches for 116 yards. Wish he would have gotten into the end zone but overall it’s a (win)

    Defense

Houston Texans 4 dk points. Although they started off strong with 2 sacks and a interception in the end they just let up too many points (loss)
